Coleman Memorial Park, also known as Coleman’s Park is home to a variety of special events in Lebanon County. Throughout the summer months, Music in the Park provides entertainment in the park’s open amphitheater. Independence Day is celebrated with the County’s fireworks display at the Park. Lauther Water Park is a large swimming pool with a large slide and areas set aside for level of swimming ability. Trails wind through the wooded areas that had been estates owned by the Coleman Family, owners of Cornwall Iron Furnace. The park area housed the five mansions and estates of Coleman family members until the 1930’s when the family donated the area tte City of Lebanon. The last mansion was torn down in the early 1960’s. Remaining buildings include the large red brick stables and carriage house, a gate house, the Brock home, and the “ready house” garage, which kept a carriage and team of horses and later an automobile ready at all times for any time the Colemans needed to go out. It was during the tearing-down process of tearing down the last mansion, the Dawson “Homestead”, in which a letter written by Abraham Lincoln was found in a secret room of the house. Items and photographs from the Coleman estates can be seen at Lebanon County Historical Society at the Stoy Museum in Lebanon.
